Wikipeida Link to Stebbins, Alaska

The Village of Stebbins.  I was working just out of the picture on the top right of the row of homes in photo 1.  Photo 2 shows some of the homes in Stebbins.  Photo 3 is a Hageland Air flight on the ground when I landed.  Photo 4 is the plane I came in on.

Photo 5 shows my luxurious accommodations.  The item leaning against the wall is a camping cot.  The weather was very cold and windy.  Probably in the mid '30s.  Had to sleep in my sleeping bag with my clothes on and 2 pair of socks.

Photo 6 shows the fresh water for the building I was in.  There is no running water in Stebbins.  None.  If you want a drink, or want to wash your hands, or wash the dishes, you ladle some water out of the large garbage can.  This also means they don't have flush toilets.  "Honey Buckets" (I'm sparing the viewer photos) are used and emptied in a large container on the street each day where they are carried off somewhere.

The EPA grant I was reviewing was for general assistance with no specific purpose.  In my opinion EPA should be funding a fresh water and sewage system.

Photos 7, 8 and 9 if stitched together from left to right would give a landscape of Stebbins, Alaska.  These were taken from the door of my sleeping room.

I learned my lesson at Koyuk.  This time I made sure I went to the landing strip way ahead of time.  It was raining, almost sleeting and very cold.  I waited to the right of the building shown in photo 3.  Photo 10 gives you an idea of how cold it was.

Photo 11 is a Frontier flight that landed while I was waiting.

Photo 12 is my Bering Air flight.

This is a series of photos of Stebbins as the plane was leaving.  Not very clear but will give the viewer an idea of the place.
